The Brown University Wrestling team will be hosting its first meet of the season as Boston University, Sacred Heart University, and Johnson & Wales University come to the Pizzitola Gymnasium to face the Bears. Competition in the tri-meet will begin at 12:00 p.m. as the Bears face the Boston University Terriers. Brown will then take on the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at 2:00 p.m., and finish the day off hosting Johnson & Wales at 4:00 p.m.
Brown is now 4-3 overall after competing in both the Lone Star Duals and the Virginia Duals. The Bears went 3-1 at the Lone Star Duals where they fell to Northern Iowa 28-7, but defeated both Eastern Michigan and Wyoming by a score of 19-18 as well as California-Fullerton 21-13. Senior Clint Frease went 4-0 on the day and now has an individual record of 16-2 throughout the 2002-2003 season.
Brown then went on to compete in the Virginia Duals where an injury plagued team fell to Nebraska 26-10, defeated Virginia Tech 21-9 but then fell to Edinoboro by a score of 32-6. The Bears had to forfeit two weight classes and sat out four of their starters; senior Jason Mercado, junior Nick Ciarcia, freshman Lucas Magnani, and Frease in the loss to Edinboro, due to injury. Sophomore Michael Savino led the Bears at the Duals going 3-0 on the day.
The Bears have also competed in several individual meets, including the Binghamton Open, the Keystone Classic, and the Las Vegas Invitational.
