Philadelphia, PA - The Brown wrestling team took part in the annual Keystone Classic on Sunday in Philadelphia. The Bears took seventh place overall while sophomore Jeff Schell placed third at 125 lbs. Host Penn won the event with four individual titles. Brown has a total of seven placewinners.
Schell went 3-1 on the day, including a 6-3 win over #1 seeded Ryan Smith of Rider, to earn his third place finish. Freshman John Triggas took fourth at 133 lbs. while senior Mike Ashton also took fourth after being forced to forfeit his final match of the day with an injury. Sophomore Leo Saniuk placed fourth at 197 lbs. as well.
Also placing for Brown was senior Tim Smith at 149 lbs. Smith edged out Wes Kuser of Duke, 2-1, to capture fifth place. Nate Myers took the fifth place spot at 125 lbs. with a 11-4 victory over Penn's Andrew Valenti. Freshman Branden Stearns rounded out Brown's placewinners on the day with a sixth place finish at 184 lbs.
