BETHLEHEM, PA - The Brown wrestling team finished fifth overall at the EIWA wrestling championships over the weekend at Lehigh as four Bear grapplers qualified for the 2002 NCAA championships.
Individually for the Bears, it was senior Bronson Lingamfelter (Boxborough, MA) finishing second in heavyweight action, which gave him an automatic bid to the NCAA championships in Albany, NY on March 21-23.
Turning in third place finishes for the Bears were junior Clint Frease (Cleawater, FL) at 141, junior Jason Mercado (Pitman, NJ) at 149 and sophomore Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) at 197. Frease, Mercado and Ciarcia all qualified for the NCAAs with strong performances in their respective weight classes.
Rounding out the scoring for Brown was senior Karl Rittger (Glen Gardiner, NJ) who finished sixth at 184 for the Bears.
Next up for Brown will be the NCAAs at the Pepsi Center in Albany, NY on March 21-23.
