Boston, MA - Brown wrapped up a terrific weekend with a tightly contested 17-15 win over Boston University recently, putting the finishing touches on a 3-0 weekend for the Bears. Junior Greg Einfrank (Jefferson Valley, N.Y.) wrestled the critical match for Bruno, as his five points from a technical fall ended up as the difference.
The bout started off well for Brown, as Einfrank kicked things off with his 19-4 technical fall over Ryan Dowd for an early 5-0 lead. The two teams then traded wins at 133, 141, 149, 157, and 165, as juniors Stephen DeLorenzo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Bryan Tracy (Williamstown, N.J.) picked up decisions at 141 and 157 respectively, keeping the Bears in the match.
After a win by the Terriers at 174, Boston University was clinging to a slim 12-11 lead with three weight classes remaining. However, senior Matt Gevelinger (Mineral Point, WI) grabbed a decision at 184 to regain the lead for Brown. Though BU briefly took back the lead with a win at 197, Zach Zdrada (Atkinson, N.H.) sealed the win for the Bears with a 6-3 decision in the heavyweight division.
The win capped off the best weekend of the season for the Bears, as their 3-0 record bumped them up to 6-9 overall. The team will be back in action on Friday, when they host Cornell at 3:00 p.m.
