Bears Fall to Big Red 33-3

The Brown University Wrestling team battled the Big Red of Cornell today Saturday February 15, 2003 and lost 33-3. The Big Red came into today's match ranked seventh in the Nation and left with an Ivy League Title. Brown is now 8-11 overall and 1-3 in the Ivy League.

Only one wrestler came away with a victory today in senior Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL). Frease who is ranked eleventh in the nation defeated Cornell's Byron Warner 3-1 at 141.

Also wrestling for the Bears but coming away with losses were freshmen Lucas Magnani (Islip, NY), Dave Saadeh (Lancaster, PA), Doran Heist (Meadville, PA), and heavyweight Lee Beane (Bridgewater, MA) as well as sophomores Michael Savino (Lawrenceville, NJ) and Anthony Marconi (Patterson, NY). Juniors Sean Jenkins (Schnecksville, PA) and Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) also wrestled for the Bears but came away with losses.

The Bears have one match left at Harvard on Saturday February 22 at 4:00 p.m. before they compete in the EIWA Championships and then the NCAA Championships.
