The Brown University Wrestling Team went 2-1 on the day as they hosted Boston University, Sacred Heart University, and Johnson & Wales University. The Bears fell to Boston University, and defeated both Sacred Heart and Johnson & Wales.

Brown faced the terriers of Boston University first and were defeated 21-15. Junior Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) recorded the only fall for the Bears in this match at 6:20 over Boston's Ed Strauss. Also recording wins for the Bears were junior Adam Santee (Perry, OH) at 174, freshman Lucas Magnani (Islip, NY) at 125, and senior Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) at 149.

The Bears then went on to face Sacred Heart University and won 18-17. Brown senior Chris Ayers (Newton, NJ) won 9-6 at 165 as freshman Dan Apello (Roselle Park, NJ) grabbed a 13-4 win at 125. Grappling their way to second wins on the day were Santee at 174, Ciarcia at 184, and Frease at 141.

The final match of the day also went to the Bears as Brown defeated Johnson & Wales University 28-6. Six Brown freshmen grappled their way to wins in David Saadeh (Lancaster, PA) at 157, Doran Heist (Meadville, PA) at 174, Mike Ashton (Perry, OH) at 141, heavyweight Lee Beane (Bridgewater, MA), Magnani at 125, and Apello at 125 in an exhibition match. Freshman Peter Gladish (Kentfield, CA) also registered a win by forfeit at 184. Recording his second win of the day was Ayers at 165.

The Bears will continue action this Saturday January 25, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Lehigh.
