Brown Grapplers Split Four Matches at Oregon Classic

REDMOND, OR - The Brown wrestling team split four matches at the Oregon Classic on Friday.

The Bears defeated Portland State 21-8, and Pacific (Ore.) 31-13. Brown also fell to sixteenth-ranked Illinois 28-6 and Oregon State 35-9.

Leading the way for the Bears were juniors Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) at 141 and Rob Apgar at 133 (Allentown, PA) who each posted three victories on the day.

Tri-captains Bronson Lingamfelter (Hwt.) (Boxboro, MA), David Dies (149) (Akron, OH) and Jason Mercado (157) (Pitman, NJ) each had two victories apiece to help pace the Bears.

With two wins and two losses, the Bears' record now stands at 5-3. Brown will return to action on Saturday, January 19 for its first home meet of the season against Sacred Heart and Boston University at noon in the Pizzitola Sports Center.
