Freshman Cort Choate Qualifies for NCAA Championships
March 9, 2010Providence, R.I. - After his stellar run last weekend at the EIWA Tournament, rookie Cort Choate has qualified for the NCAA Championships to be held from March 18-20 in Omaha, Nebraska. Choate won four consecutive bouts in the consolation bracket at 133, upsetting a number of competitors on the way to finish fourth overall in the EIWA.
Wrestling Finishes 10th at EIWA Tournament
The Bears wrapped up competition at the two-day EIWA Tournament on Sunday evening, compiling a total of 55 points to finish 10th overall. The Cornell Big Red, a perennial national contender, won the competition, wracking up 160.5 points to take the title by a comfortable margin over second place Penn, which had 113.
Senior Bran Crudden Named All-Ivy
Providence, R.I. - Brown senior Bran Crudden (Columbia, CT) was named to the Honorable Mention All-Ivy Team on Thursday afternoon, recognizing his impressive 2009-10 season. Putting together the best season of his career, Crudden compiled a 14-10 record against strong competition, including 10-5 in dual competitions.
Bears Drop Two Matches to Columbia, Cornell
The Bears dropped a pair of Ivy matches over the weekend, losing 46-6 against Cornell on Friday before Columbia took a tough 25-12 victory on Saturday evening. Brown utilized a balanced attack for the pair of competitions, as four different wrestlers won one bout apiece, but it wasn't enough to overcome the two tough opponents.
