Brown Faces Air Force, Stanford and Nebraska at Lone Star Duals

Dallas, Texas – The Brown wrestling team joined some of the best teams in the country at the Lone Star Duals this weekend and faced Air Force, Stanford and Nebraska. While the Bears were unable to pick up team wins against the Falcons (36-3), Cardinal (26-12) Cornhuskers (37-3),young student-athletes picked up indivdual wins for Brown, while many more gained valuable experience. 

Against Air Force, the Bears picked up two wins. Freshman Billy Watterson scored a 6-4 win by decision at 125 while classmate Pat LaBuz also won by decision, 6-3 in the 157 lbs. weight class. Fellow rookie Giuseppi Lanzi was narrowly edged at 149, losing 7-6.

Brown picked up three wins versus Stanford, one coming by way of a forfeit at 174. It was another freshman for the Bears at 141, when C.J. Howard picked up a 4-0 decision victory. At 285, sophomore Caleb Blaney also took a win by decision, 6-2.

Lanzi kept his momentum rolling against Nebraska as he recorded another win a 149, scoring the victory by the score of 8-3.

The Bears are back in action on January 29 when they travel to take on Army.
