Brown wrestling has been named one of the top 30 academic programs in the country as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) in its annual Division I All-Academic list.

The Brown wrestling team heads to Lewisberg, Pa., this weekend, March 5-6, for the 2011 EIWA Championships. The Bears will be wrestling for a chance to make it to this year’s NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, Pa.

Brown Wrestling Competes at EIWA Championships
The Brown wrestling team competed in the first day of the 2011 EIWA Championships on Saturday and saw several wrestlers win bouts. The Bears faced some of the top competition in the East at host site Bucknell.

Overcashier Named Ivy League Honorable Mention
Junior wrestler Grant Overcashier (Goodrich, Mich.) was honored by the Ivy League this afternoon as the conference announced its annual award winners. Overcashier was tabbed as an honorable mention selection.

Brown Falls to Bucknell and Columbia
Less than 24 hours after taking on the number one team in the country (Cornell) the Bears were back on the mat, this time hosting Bucknell and Columbia. Several Brown wrestlers put in impressive performances, but it was the Bison (31-7) and Lions (24-9) that came away with the victories.

Brown Wrestling vs. No. 1 Cornell Live on ESPN Radio, Friday at 3 p.m.
After hosting No. 7 Rutgers in their last home appearance at the Pizzitola Sports Center, the Brown wrestling team will host No. 1 Cornell, live online on ESPN Radio 1160AM Ithaca. Head coach Dave Amato, fresh off his 300th at Brown University, leads the squad against the NCAA-best Big Red.

Brown Defeats Sacred Heart, Falls to No. 1 Cornell
Fresh off his 300th victory at Brown, head Dave Amato picked up his 301st win against Sacred Heart, 36-2 on Friday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears also faced the No. 1 team in the country, Cornell, but were topped 44-0.

Brown Wrestling Downs Ivy League Rival Harvard
Brown wrestling has struggled at times this season, but the team came through in a big way on Saturday. The Bears traveled to Ivy League rival Harvard and picked up a 24-17 win over the Crimson. Brown was also in action against Boston University, but was edged 24-10.

Brown Faces Drexel, Penn and Princeton, All on Saturday
Brown had a very busy Saturday, as the team traveled to Pennsylvania and to on three local area teams: Drexel and Ivy League rivals Penn and Princeton. The Bears fell to the Dragons 22-14, nearly topped Princeton, 16-22. Against some of the top-ranked wrestlers in the country at Penn, Brown had some close matches, but fell 35-0.

Brown Wrestling Falls at Army and Lehigh
The Brown wrestling team traveled West Point on Saturday to take on Army and multiple Bear wrestler won their respective matches, but the Knights came away with the team victory, 28-13. On Sunday at Lehigh, the Bears were topped again, but Grant Overcashier picked up a decision victory.

Brown Faces Air Force, Stanford and Nebraska at Lone Star Duals
The Brown wrestling team joined some of the best teams in the country at the Lone Star Duals this weekend and faced Air Force, Stanford and Nebraska. While the Bears were unable to pick up team wins against the Falcons (36-3), Cardinal (26-12) Cornhuskers (37-3),young student-athletes picked up indivdual wins for Brown, while many more gained valuable experience.

Wrestling Weekend Wrapup: Brown Hosts Nationally Ranked Rutgers and Maryland
The Brown wrestling team really challenged themselves over this past weekend, welcoming No. 19 Rutgers and Maryland to the Pizzitola Center on Saturday and Sunday. The high level of competition will greatly benefit the Bears as they face off against Ivy League teams later in the season.

Shull and Vorrius Pace Bears in Vegas
The Brown wrestling team continued its 2010-11 season at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational this past weekend. Senior Brandon Shull and freshman Brandon Vorrius both had successful tournaments as the “Brandons” went a combined 5-4 in their matches.

Bears Head to Penn for Keystone Classic
Head coach Dave Amato and the Brown wrestling team will compete in their second tournament of the season on Sunday, November, 21 when the squad travels to the Palestra for the 15th annual Keystone Classic, hosted by Penn.

Shull Leads Bears at Keystone Classic
Senior Brandon Schull took finished sixth overall at the 197 weight-class. Schull beat Boston University’s John Hall in his second match of the day and also defeated VMI’s Chris Gill to assure himself of at least a point finish in the division.

Head coach Dave Amato Brown wrestling team kicks off the 2010-11 season on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Binghamton Open. The meet begins at 9 a.m. at the Binghamton University Events Center in Binghamton, N.Y. Finals will begin at approximately 5 p.m.

Bears Take on Impressive Field at Binghamton Open
Three wrestlers made it deep into the bracket of their respective weight classes. Sophomore Cortlandt Choate (Orwigsburg, Pa.), freshman Giuseppi Lanzi (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and junior Grant Overcashier (Goodrich, Mich.) all made it to within one match of placing at the event. Choate, Lanzi and Overcashier competed at the 133, 157 and 141 weight class, respectively.
