PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 13 Brown University men's water polo placed 12 different student-athletes in the scoring column as the hosts beat Connecticut College, 17-7, on Senior Night at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Wednesday.
The Bears (19-6) used a 6-1 second quarter to take an 11-3 lead at the half in their third victory over the Camels (3-13) this season.
In their final home contest, seniors Nick Deaver (Orinda, Calif.) and Henry Fox (Mercer Island, Wash.) each scored a goal while senior goalie Andrew Brown (Western Springs, Ill.) made eight saves and allowed just three goals in the first half.
Freshman Tyler Kirchberg (Orinda, Calif.) totaled two goals and four assists while classmate Tommy Bush (Lafayette, Calif.) posted two goals and four steals, and fellow rookie Adam Hersko-RonaTas (La Jolla, Calif.) contributed a goal and five steals.
Brown jumped out to a 5-0 lead out of the gates with Gallas providing two of the team's goals. The Bears extended their edge to 11-3 after two quarters with six different Bears notching a goal in the second period.
The Bears edged the visiting Camels 2-1 in the third frame and 4-3 in the final stanza.
Next, Brown plays at Iona on Saturday at 4 p.m. prior to playing at No. 17 St. Francis Brooklyn (10 a.m.) and at Fordham (4 p.m.) on Sunday in the team's final regular season weekend.
