PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of losses to nationally-ranked foes snapped the No. 18 Brown men's water polo team's four-game win streak as the Bears were bested by No. 12 St. Francis Brooklyn, 11-9, and No. 3 University of the Pacific, 20-4, during the Bruno Fall Invitational at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Sunday. Brown finished the tournament with a 3-2 mark to move to 6-4 overall on the season.

Brown shut out St. Francis Brooklyn in the first quarter and built a 7-4 lead after the first half, but the defending Collegiate Water Polo Association champions rallied back with a seven-goal second half performance to sneak past the Bears, 11-9. Smith and junior Nick Deaver (Orinda, Calif.) each sank three goals and Shockley stopped 12 shots in the net, but a scoreless third frame for the hosts proved their undoing in their first loss of the weekend.

BU 1 0 2 1 – 4
Brown goals: Smith 1, Robb 1, Villeneuve 1, Irwin 1
Brown saves: Brown 5 (1st half), Weiser 3 (2nd half)
A powerful Tigers offense mustered 11 first-half goals to run away with a 20-4 victory over the Bears. Four different Brown players notched a goal in the contest, but the third-ranked Pacific defense proved difficult to break and held the hosts scoreless in the second quarter. Junior Andrew Brown (Western Springs, Ill.) and freshman Luke Weiser (Los Alamitos, Calif.) split the goalkeeping efforts and made five and three saves, respectively.
The Bears are slated for a rematch against the Terriers on Friday, Sep. 20, when Brown heads to New York for a CWPA Northern Division double features at St. Francis Brooklyn at 2 p.m. and at Fordham at 7 p.m.
