No. 12 Brown Water Polo Defeats MIT, 12-9
Providence, R.I. -  The No. 12 Brown University men's water polo team (24-2) defeated MIT (8-10), 12-9, on Friday evening at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.  The Bears had their senior day celebration prior to their game, honoring the six seniors who have contributed to the team's success: Dean Serure, Cyrus Mojdehi, Svetozar Stefanovic, Bryan Russell and Ryan Gladych

The Engineers got on the scoreboard in the first 30 seconds of the match when Craig Cheney put one past Brown goalkeeper Walker Shockley to take a 1-0 lead.  Senior Gladych, Stefanovic and  Mojdehi scored the next three straight goals to head into the second half with a 3-1 advantage.

Brown then added the lone goal of the second quarter at the 5:43 mark when Henry Fox found the back of the net to increase the Bears' lead to 4-1 by the third quarter.

MIT scored 30 seconds into the third and outscored the Bears 4-2 to take a 6-5 lead with 1:14 remaining.  Fox scored with 32 seconds on the clock to tie the score at 6-6 heading into the final eight minutes.

Mojdehi and James McNamara scored the first two goals of the final quarter to take an 8-6 lead, and went to outscore MIT 4-3 in the final six minutes to earn the 12-9 victory. 

Stefanovic led the scoring with four goals.

The Bears are back in action on Sunday at the Ivy Championship hosted at Yale.
