Stefanovic’s Nine Goals Lead No. 12 Brown to 14-10 Win Over Fresno Pacific

Santa Clara, Calif. - Senior Svetozar Stefanovic lit up for a career-high nine goals to help lead the No. 12 Brown men's water polo team to a 14-10 victory over Fresno Pacific on Saturday evening at the "Rodeo" hosted at Santa Clara.

Nick Deaver started off the scoring with a goal with 3:05 left in the first quarter, but Fresno Pacific tied it up less than a minute later. Stefanovic then knocked in back-to-back goals just 20 seconds apart to give Brown a 3-1 advantage, but FP came within one with a score with 52 seconds remaining.

The Bears continued to roll in the second quarter and outscored Fresno 4-1 to take a 7-3 lead at the half. Stefanovic scored at the 5:51 mark, but then Fresno Pacific came within one with a goal at 4:01. Brown then scored the next three goals, the first by Henry Fox and the following two by Stefanovic to take the four-goal lead.

Stefenovic and McNamara then scored the first two goals of the third quarter to take a 9-3 lead, and the Bears went on to score three more goals to earn a 12-6 lead.

Stefanovic scored both of Brown's fourth-quarter goals as Fresno Pacific outscored Brown 4-2, but the Bears still secured the 14-10 win.

Nick Deaver and Henry Fox each tallied two goals, while McNamara added one. McNamara helped out by handing out five assists, and Fox picked up three steals.

Walker Shockley led the defense with 10 saves, and Andrew Brown earned four saves playing in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.
