Providence, RI – Sophomore Henry Fox (Mercer Island, WA) and junior Walker Shockley helped the Brown men's water polo team to a 3-0 weekend to earn a CWPA North-South Challenge title. For their solid performances, Fox was named the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week, while Shockley picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Fox, earning the fourth honor of his career, tallied eight goals, including seven versus nationally ranked No. 13 Princeton and No. 20 St. Francis College over the weekend.
In Brown's first win of the tournament against George Washington, Fox chipped in a marker, an assist and a steal as the Bears rolled to an 18-7 victory. In the semifinals, he found the back of the net four times with an ejection drawn to make the difference as the Bears earned a 10-9 victory over the CWPA Eastern Champion and nationally-ranked Princeton Tigers.
Against No. 20 St. Francis in the title tilt, he recorded his second consecutive hat-trick with four goals and an ejection drawn in a 9-8 win over the Terriers.
Shockley, picking up his fifth Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career, combined for 26 saves, three steals and three assists to help lead the squad to the North-South title.
Facing George Washington University (18-7 W), No. 13 Princeton University (10-9 W) and No. 20 St. Francis College (9-8 W), Shockley and the No. 19-ranked Bears allowed 23 goals and posted 37 to outscore their opponents by an average of 4.6 goals per contest.
In the lidlifter against the GW Colonials, he posted eight saves with two assists and a steal. Versus the Tigers of Princeton, he tallied eight saves, a steal and an assist before tacking on nine saves, two steals and an assist against the Terriers of St. Francis.
