Bears Split on Second Day of Princeton Invite

Princeton, NJ -  The No. 18 Brown men's water polo team fell 9-8 to Johns Hopkins, but came back to defeat Bucknell 12-6 on the second day of the Princeton Invite.  Senior Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Henry Fox each tallied five goals on the day while Walker Shockley led the defense with 14 saves. 

Against Johns Hopkins, the Bears struggled on offense going just 8 of 31 on shots.   Both squads knocked in two goals in the first eight minutes, but Hopkins outshot Brown 3-1 in the second to take a 5-3 lead at the half.  Bruno then edged Johns Hopkins 3-2 in the third, but tied 2-2 in the fourth to fall by one. 

Stefanovic led the attack with three goals, followed by Will Klein with two.  Also scoring was Fox and Matty Gallas.   Shockley earned five saves in the cage for the Bears.  James McNamara and Nick Deaver also added three assists for the Bears, while McNamara also picked up four steals.

Against the Bison of Bucknell, the Bears jumped out to a 3-1 lead, and held a 7-5 advantage by halftime.   Both teams netted one goal each in the third, but Bruno shut down the Bison in the fourth 4-0 to earn the 12-6 win. 

Fox led the offense with four goals, followed by Stefanovic and Deaver with two each.  Also scoring was Klein, McNamara, Cyrus Mojdehi and Ryan Gladych.  Deaver also tallied four assists and four steals, while Stefanovic had two assists and five steals for Bruno.   Shockley led the defense with six saves in goal.
