Providence, RI- Junior Svetozar Stefanovic and freshman Nick Deaver received CWPA Northern Division honors after helping the No. 17 ranked Brown men's water polo team to the Northern Division title game last weekend hosted at MIT. Stefanovic was named the CWPA Player of the Week while Deaver earned Rookie of the Week honors for their outstanding performances at the Championships.
Stefanovic led the Bears' offense with 16 goals, two assists, six steals and 11 ejections drawn at the Championships. In Brown's opening game against Connecticut College, he smoked the Camels for six goals, one steal and two ejections drawn during Brown's 17-3 victory. He added seven goals with an assist, four steals and five ejections drawn in defeating Harvard University 18-9 in the tournament semifinals.
Facing No. 20-ranked St. Francis College for the division championship during a three sudden death overtime 11-10 loss, Stefanovic netted three goals, a steal and four ejections drawn.
Stefanovic is a five-time Northern Division Player of the Week honoree this season, and marks his 13th weekly honor in his career.
Deaver posted four goals, 14 steals, three ejections drawn and three assists at the Northern Division Championship this past weekend to earn Rookie of the Week honors.
Against Connecticut College he tallied a goal with two assists, six steals and one ejection drawn. He added an assist, a steal and two ejections drawn versus the Crimson before tacking on two goals and seven steals against the Northern Division champion Terriers.
The award marks his second of the season as he previously garnered the October 24th Rookie of the Week award.
