Water Polo Falls to St. Francis

Flushing, NY- The No. 18 ranked Brown men's water polo team fell, 16-7, to No. #20 St. Francis on Sunday afternoon at Flushing Meadows Pool in Flushing, N.Y.

"St. Francis just played better than we did today," said head coach Felix Mercado. "We can not let a team go 11 for 15 on their power play and expect to win. We also didn't do us any favors by going four for 17 on our advantages. We will get back to work and look to improve before our next game versus Harvard."

James McNamara and Grant Villeneuve each scored goals in the first quarter to help the Bears take an early 2-0 lead, but St. Francis was able to score three goals to head into the second quarter with a 3-2 lead. St. Francis went on to outscore Brown 3-1 in the second quarter, 5-3 in the third and 5-1 in the fourth to earn a 16-7 victory over the visiting Bears.

Leading the offense was McNamara with two goals, while Henry Fox, Toby Espinosa, Chris Culin, Nick Deaver and Villeneuve each added one.

St. Francis goalkeeper Igor Mladenovic led the defense by making 17 saves against Brown, while Walker Shockley picked up four saves in the cage, while Andrew Brown posted two.
