James McNamara & Svetozar Stefanovic Earn CWPA Northern Division Honors

Providence, RI- Brown University junior Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) netted 20 goals, six assists, eight steals and eight ejections drawn at the North-vs.-South Tournament on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy to claim CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week honors, while sophomore James McNamara (Los Angeles, CA) recorded 10 steals, four ejections drawn, nine goals and 11 assists to earn the Defensive Player of the Week award.

In a 4-0 weekend for the Bears to improve Brown to 6-4 on the season, Stefanovic aided his team in defeating Johns Hopkins University (W, 10-6), No. 16 Bucknell (W, 8-7), Mercyhurst College (W, 19-11), and George Washington University (W, 11-8).

He netted a hat-trick r better in each of the victories with three markers tossing in totals of three (Johns Hopkins), four (Bucknell), six (George Washington), and seven (Mercyhurst). In addition, he handed out there assists versus Mercyhurst to finish with a game-high 10 points, while adding two assists and three steals in a victory over GW.

The award marks the ninth weekly honor in Stefanovic's career as he garnered the September 7, September 21, October 12, October 19, October 26 and November 2, 2009 Northern Division Rookie of the Week honors, while garnering the September 4 and September 28, 2009 Player of the Week awards.

McNamara had another big weekend for the Bears tallying a goal, two assists, five steals and an ejections drawn versus Johns Hopkins, before tacking on pairs of goals and assists with three steals and two ejections drawn in a victory over the ranks Bison of Bucknell.

In addition, he poured in six goals, three assists, two steals an ejection drawn and a save versus Mercyhurst, while adding four assists against George Washington. The award marks his second of the season for McNamara, who previous garnered the Sept. 5 Player of the Week award. In addition, it is the sixth weekly accolade in the career of McNamara at Brown as the 2010 Northern Division Second Team selection picked up the September 13, October 4, November 8 and November 22 Northern Division Rookie of the Week awards last season.
