Providence, RI - In only his second week of varsity play in the Collegiate Water Polo Association, Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) has earned the league's two weekly awards as the September 7 Northern Division Rookie of the Week picked up the division's September 14 Player of the Week honor after an 11 goal and seven assist performance at the Princeton Invitational.
In addition to his scoring, the freshman phenom added six steals and drew nine ejections in the No. 19-nationally ranked Bears' 3-1 weekend in Princeton as Brown faced three Top 20 programs with a 2-1 mark against the nation's best and improved to 5-2 on the season.
Overall, he found the back of the cage in each of Brown's games putting home a goal against No. 20 Bucknell Univeristy (7-6 W), two markers versus No. 4 University of California-Los Angeles (15-5 L) and two goals versus No. 11 Princeton University (6-5 W). Stefanovic notched his best performance in the Bears' first game of the invitational tacking on six goals with a pair of assists against Iona College (20-14 W).
The award marks his second accolade in as many weeks as he
recorded five goals with six steals and five ejections drawn in a
2-1 week for the Brown at the MIT Invitational in Cambridge, Mass.
