Providence, RI - Brown Track & Field Coach Craig Lake has recently named Scott Moncur as her assistant coach for middle-distance and distance runners. Moncur comes to Brown after graduating from the University of Windsor School of Law, where he spent three years coaching at two of the top high school programs in Ontario.
"I am thrilled to have Scott (Moncur) join our staff and I have no doubt that he will be a great addition to our program," said Lake. "He knows what it takes to be a successful student-athlete in the Ivy League, and he is passionate about the sport. His experience and expertise makes him a valuable asset to our team."
As one of the top distance coaches in Ontario, Moncur guided five athletes to the Ontario Championships (OFSAA) and helped his athletes set seven school records during his time at St. Anne's Tecumseh and Assumption.
Moncur attended Columbia University and set two school records in the 4x400m and the 4x800m. He was the leadoff runner on the 2004 Ivy League Championship 4x400 relay team and was an NCAA Regional qualifier in that event as well. He garnered All-Ivy honors in 2002 and 2004, and has since completed both the New York and Chicago Marathons. He currently holds the World Record in the 100x1 mile relay.
"I'm extremely excited to coach one of the top programs in the Ivy League and come into the collegiate coaching ranks," said Moncur. "It is great to work at such an incredible academic institution and especially to work with Coach Lake."
