New York, NY - The Brown men's cross country team placed sixth at the 2007 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. Princeton came in first with 38 points while completing the school's second straight Heps sweep, while Cornell took second (67), Penn (101), Columbia (108), Harvard (117), Brown (136), Dartmouth (148), and Yale in last with 170 points.
Brown's top finisher was sophomore Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL) with a time of 25:03 for ninth place. Rounding out the Bears' finishers was senior Ari Zamir (Ridgewood, NJ) in 27th place with a 25:27.0, followed by junior Stephen Chaloner (Merrimak, NH) with a 25:31.4, junior Brian Schmidt (West Hempstead, NY) with a 25:39.3, and sophomore Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA) with a 25:41.7.
A number of Brown's runners ran personal bests at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, including Escareno, Chaloner, Schmidt, Hardy, and sophomore John Loeser (Weston, CT).
Last year, the Bears placed seventh at Heps with Escareno leading the way with a 16th place finish and a time of 25:12.
