Brown Men's Cross Country Takes 4th at Iona Meet of Champions

Van Courtlandt Park, New York - The Men's Cross Country team placed fourth out of a field of 19 schools at the Iona Meet of Champions held at Van Courtlandt Park in New York on Saturday, September 20. The Bears finished with a team score of 126 points.

Seven men finished in the top 50. Highlighting the individual results for the harriers were Junior Patrick Tarpy (Yarmouth, ME) and Senior Matthew Emond (Green Harbor, MA); they crossed the finish line together in 26:02 for the 8,000 meter race, good for 17th and 18th place, respectively. Senior Michael DeCoste (Duxbury, MA) had an impressive season debut, running third for Brown and finishing in 26:17, capturing 24th place. Rounding out the top five for the Bears were Senior Erik Churchill (Phoenixville, PA) in 34th with a time of 26:28, and Sophomore Jordan Kinley (Santa Rosa, CA) in 43rd with a time of 26:35.

The team will continue action at Franklin Park in Boston for the New England Championship meet on October 10.
