Brown Athletes Compete at Penn Relays

On the men's side, 4X400 Meter Relay team of David Owen (Huntington, NY), Jon McGowens (Atco, NJ), Phil Sardis (Mission Viejo, CA), and Ed Smith (Washington, DC) finished 5th in Friday afternoon's Men's 4x400 Meter Relay. The team posted a time of 3:14.45. The 4xmile squad competed in the Championship division of their event and finished sixth. Tri-captain Chad Buechel (Upper St Clair, PA) led off in 4:12, followed by Brendan O'Keefe (Prospect Harbor, ME) in 4:08. Pat Tarpy (Yarmouth, ME) ran his leg in 4:09 and Enda Johnson (Monaghan, Ireland) anchored in 4:10. Their final time was 16:39.93.

For the women, Kim Thalmann (Holliston, MA) set a new school record in the 5,000 Meter Run, posting a time of 16:44.19. Jenna Richardson (Waterville, ME) completed that race in a time of 17:04.08. Keely Tharp (Roberts, WI) ran the 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing in 61.14 to earn 16th place out of 50 athletes. Her time was the fastest of any Ivy woman over one second. Brown's 4x100 Meter Relay Team of Claudine Compas (Great Neck, NY), Julia Stevenson (Detroit, MI), Ayanna Andrew (Freeport, NY), and Jaylon White (St. Loius Park, MN) finished in a time of 48.11. The 4x400 team earned a posted a time of 3:48.64, which matched their season best. Laura Hughes (Hixson, TN), Andrew, Stevenson, and Tharp made up the team. Mary Hale (McLean, VA) competed in the 1200 Meter Run, posting a time of 3:30, while Melissa Tremblay (Salem, MA) came in at 57.9 in the 400 Meters.

Brown returns to action May 11-12 for the Heptagonal Championships at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
