Men's Track Places 11th At IC4A Championships as Bowery Captures Pole Vault Title With Record Setting Performance

The Brown men's track team placed 11th out of 51 teams at the 2003 IC4A Outdoor Championships hosted by Princeton on May 15-18. Senior Brad Bowery captured the pole vault title while senior Chad Buechel was runner-up in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

Bowery gave Brown ten of its 28 points with a dominating performance in the pole vault. Bowery broke his own school record in the pole vault, clearing 17'00.00", nearly a foot higher then the second place finisher.

Buechel earned eight points for Brown with his second place finish in the steeplechase. His time of 8:53.20 was a new personal record as he broke his own school record of 8:53.47 from the 2003 Heptagonal Championships.

Senior Enda Johnson took the last scoring spot for the Bears, placing eighth in the 1,500 meter finals with a time of 3:47.39.

Freshman Ray Bobrownicki placed third in the high jump with a mark of 6'11", earning six points for Brown.

Senior Sean Thomas added three points for the Bears with a sixth place finish in the triple jump at 48'10.75".

Several individuals will take part in the NCAA Regional Championships beginning on Friday May 30.
