The men's track team traveled to Connecticut this weekend to compete in the UConn Spring Outdoor Invitational. Senior Paul Rosiak's (Woodridge, NJ) win in the javelin, helped lead the Bears to their third place finish. Brown earned 125 points, behind winner Uconn with 264.5, and runner up URI with 171.5.
Junior Jamil McClintock (Plainfield, NJ) won the 110 meter hurdles in 14.04, and placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 21.99.
Sophomore Sean O'Brien (Westborough, MA) placed third in the 800 meter run in 1:51.58, followed by senior Christian Tabib (Valparaiso, IN) in fourth in 1:52.44. Freshman Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA) placed fifth in the 1500 meter run in 3:57.66. Junior Jacob Nettleton (South Orange, NJ) placed third in the 5,000 meter run in 15:38.76. Senior Neil Hamel (Cumberland, RI) placed fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a 9:47.76 run.
The 4x400 meter relay team placed second in 3:19.31. The 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth with a 43.15 run.
Rosiak won the javelin with his throw of 219-09. Freshman Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) placed fourth in the discus in 155-07, followed by sophomore David Howard (Columbia, MD) in 147-00. Sophomore Eric Wood (Eugene, OR) placed fourth in the hammer throw with a 169-01 effort. In the shot put, Powlen placed third in 49-01.00, followed by Wood in fourth in 47-09.75, and Howard in fifth in 47-07.25.
In the long jump, junior Deshaun Mars (Brooklyn, NY) placed fifth with a 22-06.5 jump, followed by senior Adam Standley (Hampden, ME) in 22-00.75. Freshman Reginald Cole (Seattle, WA) placed fifth in the triple jump with a 46-02.5 jump.
The Bears will be sending athletes from a variety of events to the prestigious Penn Relays, which are to be held from April 26th until the 29th. Others will remain in Providence to compete in the final home meet of the season, the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 29.
