Men's Track and Field Compete as Individuals at IC4As
March 8, 2004
Boston, MA - A limited squad represented Brown men's track and field at the IC4A Championships in Boston this past weekend. A handful of men made the journey north to compete one last time for the indoor season.
Heptagonal high jump champion sophomore Ray Bobrownicki (Avondale, PA) had the highest finish for the Bears this weekend, jumping 6 feet 10.25 inches on Sunday to take fourth in the event, one inch below the winning mark and matching his second best jump of the season.
On the track, a pair of sophomore distance runners competed well as each set a personal best. Jordan Kinley (Santa Rosa, CA) raced the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:53.45, over half a second faster than his previous personal record. Owen Washburn (Amherst, MA) entered the 3,000 meter distance event. He knocked one second off his previous best with his time of 8:25.28.
Senior Daveed Diggs (El Cerrito, CA) competed in the 55 meter hurdles, blazing to a prelims time of 7.59 seconds. This places him in a tie for the sixth fastest time in Brown's history. A stumble coming out of the blocks in the semi-final round cost him a trip to the finals.
This meet marked the end of the indoor season for the Brown men. The outdoor season will kick off as the Bears compete at the Raleigh Relays and the Duke Invitational on the spring break trip to North Carolina.
