Men's Track Team Earns Fourth at Sorlein Memorial Indoor Classic
Coming in seeded first, and winning the preliminaries, sophomore Jamil McClintock (Plainfield, NJ) placed second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.51, just .02 seconds behind the first-place finisher from the University of Rhode Island.
Highlighting the middle distance and distance races over the weekend was sophomore Sean O'Brien (Westborough, MA), who placed third in the 1,000-meter run with a 2:28.72, sophomore Brian Schmidt (West Hempstead, NY), who took third in the one-mile run with a 4:16.99, and freshman Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL) followed behind with a fourth place finish in the mile with a 4:17.11.
In the field, the Bears took four of the top nine places in the shot put. Sophomore David Howard (Columbia, MD) led the throw squad with his 15.15-meter throw, which brought home second place. Freshman Bryan Powlen (Kewenna, IN) followed with a 14.61 throw, placing him in fourth. Freshman Reginald Cole (Seattle, WA) also earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump at 14.16 meters.
The 3,200-relay team of Ozzie Myers (Chittenanago, NY), Nick Sarro (Chatham, NY), Neil Hamel (Cumberland, RI) and Schmidt placed second with a 7:55.96.
The Bears will compete next when they travel to Cambridge, MA to take on Harvard and Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 27.
