Cambridge, MA - The Brown men's track team took part in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational on Sunday at Harvard. The Bears had six place in the top three at the meet which had no team scoring. Senior Chad Buechel won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:26.24 while freshman Mike Murray took first in the pole vault, clearing 4.57 meters.
Freshman Jake Golenor took second in the shot put with a distance of 15.36 meters. Sophomore Dave Glazier placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 14.28 meters.
Senior Eric Schrock placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.44 meters. Freshman Kent Walls took fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.40 meters. Sophomore Tony Hatala finished fourth overall in the pole vault, clearing 4.12 meters.
Sophomore Brian Hulse placed ninth in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 8.67. Sophomore Patrick Tarpy placed third in the invite mile with a time of 4:14.43 while sophomore Jeff Gaudette took fourth with a time of 4:14.68. Junior Matt Emond placed seventh with a time of 4:20.16 in the invite mile as well.
Senior Chris Relf placed 12th and freshman Chris Rigali took 14th in the mile with times of 4:30.95 and 4:31.37 respectively.
In the 800 meters, sophomore Mike Keefrider placed fourth with a time of 1:58.03 while junior Jon Andruchow took 13th with a time of 2:02.49.
In the 400 meters, freshman Ryan Young placed 11th with a time of 51.14, junior Phil Sardis placed 13th with a time of 51.96 and Zachery Weidner took 17th with a time of 52.31. Also placing for Brown were sophomore Elridge Gilbert at 21st, freshman Paul Malmquist at 23rd and freshman Mike McBride at 24th.
Senior Brandon Buchanan placed 13th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.17.
Brown continues action on Friday Jan. 24 at the Terrier Classic.
