Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University track & field teams posted several strong performances as the Bears opened the 2017 outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend.  

Josie Natrasevschi (Fort Collins, Colo.) led the women's team with a third-place showing in the discus at 168-6, while Carly Paul (Fort Collins, Colo.) placed fourth in the high jump with a cleared height of 5-7.

Rookies Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) and Kennedy Kerr (West Hempstead, N.Y.) were 10th and 11th in the 100 meters, respectively, at 12:00 and 12:01. Lewis was also 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 38-3.5.

On the men's side, junior Zack Emrich (North Kingstown, R.I.) was fourth overall in the 800 meters at 1:50.73. Fellow junior Tosin Oyewole (Elkridge, Md.) was 11th overall in the 400 meters as he crossed in a time of 48.79, while Martin Martinez (Waukegan, Ill.) took 15th in the 1,500 meters at 3:48.21. 

In the field, Owen Russell (Attleboro, Mass.) was third in the hammer with a toss of 204-4. Rookie Ryan Laudermilk (Riverside, Calif.) was fourth in the high jump with a cleared height of 6-04.75 and Jason Katz (Wyckoff, N.Y.) also added a fourth-place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 49-1.

Brown returns to action next weekend at the Yale Mark Young Invitational.
