PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's indoor track & field teams posted several impressive performances as the Bears competed at the URI Coaches Tribute Invitational and the Armory Track Invitational over the weekend.
URI Coaches Tribute Invitational
At the URI Invitational, the men's team placed fifth with 53 points, while the women's team also took fifth with 51 points.
Junior Max Haensel (Raleigh, N.C.) was victorious in the 500 meters as he crossed the finish line in a time of 1:03.93 for seventh all-time in program history. Senior Jordan Ferguson was sixth in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and then won the finals with a time of 8.42.
Senior Aaron Comery captured first place in the shot put with a winning toss of 54-5.5 and also took sixth in the weight throw at 54-7.5.
Back on the track, sophomore Tom Hale (Loudonville, N.Y.) turned in a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meters at 8:45.40, while Cameron McKie (Wickham Skeith, UK) was fourth overall in the 800 meters in a time of 1:57.90.
For the women's side, Michelle Bazile (Princeton, N.J.) claimed first place in the weight throw and tied a personal best with a toss of 54-6.75. She also added third in the shot put at 42-11.75.
Junior Joelle Feinberg (Port Washington, N.Y.) was runner-up in the 800 meters as she crossed the finish line in a time of 2:17.31. Allison Bellows (Coventry, R.I.) and Eliza Lukens-Day (Philadelphia, Pa.) went eighth and seventh, respectively, in the mile at 5:10.49 and 5:10.60.
Sophomore Bridget van Dorsten (Westport, Conn.) posted a third-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 36-1.25, while rookie Karlly Feng (Temple City, Calif.) was fourth in the pole vault with a cleared height of 10-11.75.
At the Armory Invitational in New York City, sophomore Jason Katz (Wyckoff, N.Y.) was fourth overall in the triple jump with a leap of 49-1.5 for ninth all-time at Brown.
Fellow sophomore Owen Russell (Attleboro, Mass.) placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 61-06.25.
Rookie Kendra Offiaeli (south Windsor, Conn.) was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 47-11.25. Maxine Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) placed ninth overall in the weight throw at 56-2.5.
The Bears will head up to Boston for the BU Valentine Invitational next weekend.
