CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Brown men's 4x100 meter relay team set a new school record as both men's and women's teams competed at the two-day Virginia Challenge this weekend at Lannigan Field.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Tosin Oyewole (Elkridge, Md.), Ryan Kelly (Greenwich, Conn.), Raul Green (Hopatcong, N.J.) and Brian Pfaff (Johannesburg, South Africa) set a new school record of 40.75 for fifth place overall, breaking a record that stood since 1974 (40.91).
Senior Ned Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.) turned in a runner-up finish in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 1:47.53, best in the league this spring and second all-time in program history behind Brown Hall of Famer Trinity Gray '00 (1:44.91).
Senior O'Sha Williams (Jamaica, N.Y.) was fifth in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 12.76 meters, the third best all-time at Brown and top in the league this season.
On Saturday, Will Sheeran (Seattle, Wash.) was 20th overall in the 1,500 meters at 3:45.56 for ninth all-time. In the women's 1,500 meters, Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) and Clare Peabody (Aptos, Calif.) were third and fourth all-time, respectively, with times of 4:25.18 and 4:25.90.
Also on Saturday, the 4x400 relay team of Kelly, Joseph Zemis, Willig and Oyewole turned in a time of 3:12.48 for tenth best all-time at Brown.
Brown will head to the Penn Relays and host the Brown Springtime Open this weekend.
