Men’s Track & Field Sets 4x800 Record at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA – The 4x800 meter relay team finished seventh overall and set a school record in the event as the quartet represented the Brown men's track & field team at the prestigious Penn Relays on Saturday afternoon.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Henry Tufnell (Cirencester, England), Ned Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.), Colin Savage (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Tyler Benster (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished seventh out of 12 teams in the Championship of America division, which is the fastest section of the event. The Bears clocked in at 7:23.51, breaking the school record by three seconds.
"It's important as we continue to build as a program that we compete against the best in the NCAA, and that means the Penn Relays. We did that today against top competition," said Tim Springfield, Interim Director of Track and Field. "Ned Willig ran our fastest leg today and continues to run beyond his years as a freshman."
The Bears return to action on Sunday, April 28 when they host the Springtime Invitational at 10 a.m. at Brown Stadium.
