SOUTH BEND, INDIANA – Brown's track program competed three athletes in individual races in the second day of competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational, held at the University of Notre Dame.
Sophomore Henry Tufnell (Cirencester, England) raced in the 800m run and came away with a time that ties for the fourth fastest indoor performance ever at Brown. He finished in 1:50.96, placing 26th overall.
In the 200m dash, junior John Spooney (Northfield, OH) crossed in 21.65s, earning seventh place in the highly competitive field. Senior Erik Berg (Seattle, WA) wrapped up the weekend competition for the Bears, racing the mile in a time of 4:10.
"It was a strong weekend for our program," said interim director of track and field Tim Springfield. "We need to get used to competing against national level competition, and to have some success here was exciting. I'm happy to come away with a relay ranked 18th nationally, as well as a school record and three all-time Brown top-four performances. It was a good weekend."
This weekend's competitions mark the close of the indoor season for Brown. After a short break, the program will return in full force to prepare for the outdoor season at the end of March.
