Runners Perform Well at the Terrier Invitational
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – A group of the Brown men's track and field team members traveled to Boston University's Terrier Invitational on Saturday, January 26 to compete amongst many high caliber athletes and programs.
While running against a very competitive field in the mile that included US Olympian Galen Rupp, Erik Berg (Seattle, WA) ran a personal best time of 4:03.9 to place 11th at the meet. Berg's time ranks him fourth on the all-time record board at Brown. Junior Colin Savage (Liverpool, NY) ran the event in 4:24 for 73rd overall.
Competing in one of the short sprint events, John Spooney (Northfield, OH) finished in the top eight in the 200m dash with a time of 21.60. Henry Tufnel (Cirencester, England) crossed the line in 1:53.1 in the 800m run to place ninth. The Bears' 4x400m relay team of Tufnell, Spooney, Zach Keefer (Morristown, NJ) and Ryan Kelly (Greenwich, CT) also took ninth overall, finishing with a time of 3:17.3.
Also making Brown's record board of top-ten performances was senior Kevin Cooper (Waterford, Ireland) in the 3000m competition. Cooper placed eighth in the event, running a time of 8:09 to place him seventh all-time at Brown.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, February 2 when they travel to URI for the Coaches Tribute meet.
