BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – The Brown men's track and field program competed in the Joe Donahue Games at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday and earned the overall team title with 104 points.
Freshman Anthony Mazola (Hernando, MS) ran two solid races on the day, finishing second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.02s and first in the 200m dash with a 21.93s clocking. Ryan Kelly (Greenwich, CT) also placed in the 200m dash, crossing the line in fifth with a time of 22.92s. Freshman Julian Jiggetts (Robbinsville, NJ) claimed 3rd in the 400m dash in just under 51 seconds.
Senior Zach Keefer (Morristown, NJ) added an additional win for the Bears in the 500m dash, completing the race in 1:06.5. Brown also had several strong finishes in the 3000m run, with Brendan Boyle (Mansfield, MA) placing first overall with a time of 8:37. Jordan Mann (St. Louis, MO) crossed just after him in 8:38 for second, while Mark McGurrin (Manlius, NY) followed in fourth with a time of 8:41.
For the jumps squad, team co-captain Kenneth Thompson (Riverdale, NY) lead the way in the triple jump, taking second place with a jump of 14.22m. Ndailor Sherriff (Providence, RI) took fourth with a jump of 13.29m in the same event. Junior Evan Weinstock was third in the long jump at 6.95m and Okuoma Idah (Palos Verdes, CA) followed in fifth with a leap of 6.71m.
Part of the men's team will compete on Saturday, January 26 at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University. The full team returns to competition on February 2 at URI .
