Men’s Track & Field Opens 2012 Outdoor Season at UConn

COMPLETE RESULTS

Storrs, CT – The Brown University men's track & field team competed in its first outdoor meet of the spring at the UConn Spring Invite on Saturday afternoon.

Highlights from the meet included a third place finish in the 100m dash by sophomore standout John Spooney (10.89), and Colin Savage earned third in the 800m run with a 1:54.17. Nathan Elder also ran the 800m and finished in seventh place.

"The men did some good technical things but their marks weren't quite as big," said Director of Track & Field Michelle Eisenreich. "But it was exciting to be at an outdoor meet and see implements go far which you can't really do indoors, so once you add the hammer and javelin it gets exciting."

Hunter Warwick finished sixth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.65 seconds, and Zach Keefer picked up second place honors in the 400m hurdles crossing the finish line in 55.39 seconds.

In the triple jump, Kenneth Thompson came in fourth place with a 14.24m distance, and Daniel Smith placed fifth in the shot put with a 14.34m throw. Smith also finished sixth in the discus throw. In the javelin, Michael Bieszard earned fifth with a 55.90m distance.
