  • Track & Field Ends Season at 2011 USATF Outdoor Championships

    Eugene, OR- The Brown University men’s Track & Field team sent five Bears to compete at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and two just missed making the finals as the Bears ended the 2011 season.
  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced

    Providence, RI- The Ivy League announced its spring list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were each starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
  • Kinsley & Smith Earn All-American Honors

    Providence, RI- Brown University Track & Field throwers Brynn Smith ’11 and Craig Kinsley ‘11 were named Second Team All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. Second Team All-America honors are handed out to those whose final placing in the national meet range from ninth to 16th place.
  • Craig Kinsley Earns 12th in Javelin Prelims at NCAA Championship

    Des Moines, IA- Senior Craig Kinsley, last year’s NCAA javelin championship, ended this year’s championship with a throw of 229-9 to earn 12th in the preliminary round, as only the top nine advanced into the final round.

    Bloomington, IND- Brown University track & field standouts Brynn Smith and Craig Kinsley advanced out of the NCAA East Regionals this past weekend and will head to the NCAA Championships meet hosted at Drake University from June 8-11.
  • Spooney Qualifies to Quarterfinals on Day Two of NCAA Regionals

    Bloomington, IND- Freshman standout sprinter John Spooney, who won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Ivy League outdoor Heptagonal Championships, was a late addition to the 200m dash preliminaries at the NCAA Regionals in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend. The rookie ran a great race, finishing in 18th place overall with a time of 21.44 seconds to qualify to the quarterfinals this evening.

    Providence, RI- The NCAA released its list of declared student-athletes for the upcoming NCAA East and West Regional Preliminary meets and Brown University had 13 entries set for the NCAA East Regionals in Bloomington, Ind., with events starting on Thursday, May 26.

    Princeton, NJ- The Brown Track & Field team headed to the 2011 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Princeton University, while others competed at the Boston High Performance Series at Bentley College as the Bears prepare for NCAA Regionals on May 26.
  • Men’s Track & Field Earns Third at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

    New Haven, CT- The Brown University men's track & field team earned third place at the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships with 76 points. Freshman standout John Spooney earned First Team All-Ivy honors in both the 100 and 200m dash for the Bears and ran on the third place 4x100 and 4x400m relay squad to highlight the Bears' performers this afternoon.

    New Haven, CT- After the first day of the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships hosted at Yale, the women's track & field team is currently in first place with 48 points, while the men's squad sits in fourth with 20. Senior Brynn Smith captured the title in the hammer throw to become the first female to throw over 200 feet in the Ivy League, while senior Craig Kinsley collected his fourth consecutive league title in the javelin for the men's squad.

    Providence, RI- The Brown University Track & Field teams continued to prepare for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships next weekend hosted at Yale by competing at both the Penn Relays and the Brown Springtime Invitational this weekend. Gabriela Baiter boasted a second-place in the triple jump to lead the Bears at the Penn Relays, while four men earned titles in Providence at the Springtime Invite.

    Princeton, NJ- The Brown men's and women's track & field team competed at the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational hosted at Princeton University on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Both squads had solid performances on both the track and in the field events, as the team will now prepare to compete in the Penn Relays next weekend.

    Providence, RI- The Brown track & field team hosted its annual Brown Invitational yesterday afternoon at Brown Stadium and had some outstanding marks in its first home meet of the outdoor season. Highlighting the meet was Craig Kinsley's third best javelin throw in the nation, and also several Bears brought home titles and earned personal records throughout the day.

    Providence, RI – The Brown Invitational on Saturday, April 16, at Brown Stadium will showcase defending NCAA javelin champion Craig Kinsley, making his 2011 debut. The Brown senior from Fairfield Conn., who followed up his NCAA title last June with a third place finish at the USA national championship, “has had phenomenal training sessions, with some important, major technique changes,” commented Michelle Eisenreich, Kinsley’s event coach and the holder of the Alden-Rothenberg head coaching chair for the men’s and women’s track and field/cross-country program at Brown.
  • Brown’s 4x400 Wins Title at Husky Invitational

    Storrs, CT- The Brown University men’s track & field team had many strong performances on Saturday during the Husky Invitational hosted at the University of Connecticut. While the 4x400m relay squad earned Brown’s only title, the Bears had a multitude of strong performances, which include rookie John Spooney’s two great races in both the 100 and 200 for the Bears.

    Smithfield, RI- The Brown University men's and women's track & field team competed at the Bryant Invitational this weekend in Smithfield. With more than 16 schools and several clubs in attendance, the Bears had many solid performances and captured many titles throughout the day.

    Providence,RI- The men’s middle and long distance runners are coming off a strong indoor season, which saw nine additions to the Brown all-time top ten list in the 500m, 1000m, mile, 3000m, 5000m, 4x400m, 4x800m, and distance medley relay.
  • Outdoor Track & Field Season Outlook: Throws

    Providence, RI- Led by Coach Michelle Eisenreich, 2010 was one of the most successful seasons the Brown throws group has ever seen. Not only did the squad dominate the Heptagonal Championships by scoring 26 points in the men's events and 63 in the women's events, the Brown throwers also earned several All-Ivy honors, All-East Region honors and a NCAA Championship. Many of these athletes return this year and will drive the team to higher levels of success.
  • Outdoor Track & Field Season Outlook: Jumps

    Providence, RI- For the jumps group, the indoor season was highlighted by two seniors who had their best and most consistent performances this indoor season. Rachel Biblo capped her indoor career with her second consecutive All-Ivy performance (40'11.50). Gabriela Baiter followed up with a fourth place finish at the Indoor Heptagonal Championships (40'7) to tie her outdoor season best from a year ago. Baiter went on to finish 6th in the ECAC triple jump.
  • Outdoor Track & Field Season Outlook: Sprints

    Providence, RI- The future for Brown University's sprint squad is bright. The men broke a 31- year- old 4x400m relay record this past winter with a relay. The relay team was comprised of three freshmen and a sophomore. With a small group of graduating seniors, the team is working incredibly hard to fulfill its potential during this outdoor season, and with only a small group of graduating seniors, the coming years should be exciting for Brown sprints.

Both the men and women look to improve upon their stellar performances at the 2010 Outdoor Ivy League Championships at which the women placed second and the men placed third.

    New York, NY- The Brown University men’s track & field team earned seventh place with 28 points at the 2011 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championship. The Bears’ 4x400m relay team comprised of freshman Samuel Howard, sophomore Nathan Elder, freshman Ajani Brown and freshman John Spooney garnered Second Team All-Ivy honors after an outstanding second place finish with a time of 3:14.26 which broke a Brown University record.

Senior Brynn Smith highlighted the day earning the weight throw title, while various members of both the men's and women's squad have advanced to the finals tomorrow.

  • Bears Finish Seventh at NYRR Saturday Night at The Armory

    New York, NY- The Brown University men’s track & field team finished in seventh in the 12-team field at the NYRR Saturday Night at The Armory with 57 points. Daniel Smith brought home the Bears’ only title in the field, winning the shot put with a throw of 16.88m, and John Spooney garnered the 200m dash title in 21.94 seconds.
  • Brown Track & Field Shines at Giegengack Invitational

    New Haven, CT- The Brown University track & field teams competed at the seventh annual Giegengack Invitational hosted at Yale this weekend. Around two-dozen teams were competing at the two-day unscored event, as the Bears had several top five finishes, along with three titles as the squad continues to prepare for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
  • Men’s Track & Field Places Second at Reebok Boston Indoor Games

    Providence, RI- The Brown men’s track & field squad had many great performances yesterday afternoon to earn second place with 70 points out of 16 competing teams during the Reebok Boston Indoor games. Northeastern claimed the top spot with 118.50 points overall, followed by Brown, UMass Amherst (69), Central Connecticut (69) and Stonehill (63.50).
