Princeton, NJ- The Brown University men's track & field team competed at both the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton as well as the Tom Jones Memorial Classic at the University of Florida. The squad had some great performances, which included a dominating javelin throw title for junior Craig Kinsley in Gainesville.
In the 5,000-meter run, senior Duriel Hardy earned sixth place with a personal record of 14:04.51, and was followed by sophomore Matt Duffy (14:23.81), Colin Brett (14:31.65), and freshman Michael Stumpf (14:39.85), who all earned personal records in the 5k as well.
Senior Mike Mazerik had a great performance in the 100m dash to take third place with a time of 10.92 seconds, and was followed by Marc Howland in 15th place with a time of 11.20 seconds. Mazerik also had a solid run in the 200m dash to earn eighth place with a 22.03 second time. Zach Kieffer also had a strong showing in the 400m hurdles where he crossed the line in 54.62 seconds for sixth place.
In the 800m, Anthony Schurz finished 23rd overall (1:53.91) and freshman Erik Berg followed with a 26th place finish (1:54.07). Junior Chris Collins earned a 3:53.91 in the 1,500m run as senior John Loeser followed with a time of 3:54.25.
Senior Reggie Cole earned third place in the triple jump with a leap of 48-09.50, as freshman teammate Kenneth Thompson finished in 10th with a 43-07.25 mark. Freshman Daniel Smith garnered eighth place in the discus throw (152-06),
In Gainesville at the Tom Jones Memorial, Kinsley brought back the javelin title with a throw of 228-09, and senior Andrew Chapin earned third place in the triple jump with a 48-08.25. Senior Bryan Powlen third in the discus with a 176-06 and fifth place in the shot put with a 53-05.00
