Men’s Track & Field Started Strong at Husky Spring Invite


Boston, MA- The Brown University men’s track & field team had a strong showing during its first meet of the outdoor season.  The Bears had several great performances at the Husky Spring Invite at Northeastern today, which included Zack Keefer's 400m hurdle title.

In the running events, Mike Mazerik earned second place in the 200m dash in 22.41 seconds, and Keefer earned the 400m hurdle title with a 56.49. Following in fourth place was Vincent Sghiatti with a time of 59.47.

The Bears' 4x400m relay team finished in third place overall with a time of 2:35.87. The squad was comprised of Mazerik, Keefer, Nathan Elder and Sghiatti.

The throws squad started the outdoor season strong, throwing marks that put them well ahead of where they were last year at this time which is a great sign of things to come for the Bears. Bryan Powlen garnered second place in the shot put with a throw of 17.05m, and Brian Giese finished in seventh in the hammer throw with a 51.02m toss.

The Bears are back in action at the University of Connecticut on April 3.
