  • Three Bears Earn USTFCCCA Men’s Track & Field All-Academic Honors

    Providence, RI- Three members of the Brown men’s track & field team were among 357 athletes recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic Honorees, the organization announced on Thursday. Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA), NCAA javelin champion Craig Kinsley (Fairfield, CT) and Jordan Maddocks (Framingham, MA) each earned All-Academic honors for the Bears.

    Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its spring list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
  • Bryan Powlen Finishes 17th at NCAA Track & Field Championship

    Eugene, OR- Brown University senior men’s track & field captain Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) finished his spectacular career at Brown University by finishing 17th in the discus throw (173-03) at the NCAA Division I 2010 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Powlen, a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier, leaves Brown with the second-best discus throw in school history with a mark of 183’3”.
  • Brown's Craig Kinsley Captures National Championship!

    Eugene, OR - With an incredible throw of 250'3" at the 2010 Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Craig Kinsley has become the first NCAA outdoor champion in the javelin at Brown University. Kinsley is now just the third NCAA Outdoor champion in school history, and the first since Gilbert Borjeson's title in the hammer throw in 1952.

  • Brown Track & Field Heads to NCAA Championship

    Providence, RI- Brown University will be represented this week by five athletes competing at the 2010 Division I NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. You can follow the championships through the live results, and also through the live television coverage found on CBS College Sports, Friday, June 11, starting at 8:00 p.m. EST. The final day of competition will be aired live on CBS, Saturday, June 12, beginning at 1 p.m. EST.
  • Craig Kinsley & Danielle Grunloh Named Northeast Region Field Athletes of the Year

    Providence, RI- Junior Craig Kinsley (Fairfield, CT) and senior Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) were recently named USTFCCCA Division I Northeast Region Field Athletes of the Year. Both will be competing in the 2010 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.
  • Bears Qualify Five to Track & Field NCAA Championship

    Greensboro, N.C. – Five members of the Brown University Track & Field team earned spots at the 2010 NCAA Championships, advancing through the preliminary round held at UNC Greensboro. The Bears had some outstanding performances throughout the three-day event, which included Craig Kinsley’s javelin throw title and Danielle Grunloh’s eighth place mark in the shot put.
  • Brown Track & Field Set for NCAA Championship East Preliminary Round

    Greensboro, NC- Twelve members of the Brown University track and field team have qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round, as the field was announced Friday by the NCAA. Five men and seven women will represent Brown in Greensboro, N.C. North Carolina A&T will play host to the top athletes east of the Mississippi River May 27-29.
  • Brown Track & Field Compete at ECAC/IC4A Championship

    The Brown University track & field team competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championship this weekend hosted at Princeton University’s Weaver Stadium. Both teams had some solid performances this weekend, which included Danielle Grunloh’s shot put title to help lead the women to third place in the 49-team field, and Bryan Powlen and Craig Kinsley’s titles helped guide the Bears to an eighth place finish out of the men’s 52-team field.
  • Brown Track & Field Earns All-Ivy Honors

    Providence, RI- Sixteen members of the men’s and women’s Brown University Track & Field team earned All-Ivy honors. The Ivy League determines its All-Ivy teams based solely upon performance at the Heptagonals Championship hosted at Princeton University on May 8-9. The event winners also earn first-team All-Ivy status with the runners up taking a spot on the second team.

    Princeton, NJ- The Brown men’s track & field team won two events at the Princeton Elite Meet on Saturday, May 1 at Weaver Stadium. While not all the track & field athletes competed in this event, it was the team’s final tune-up before competing at the 2010 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship May 8-9 at Princeton.

    Providence, RI- The Brown University men’s track & field team competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational this weekend. The Bears turned in some great performances, which included Bryan Powlen’s shot put and discus titles, Craig Kinsley first place javelin throw, and also Brown’s first-place 4x100m relay team.
  • Men’s Track & Field Competes at Larry Ellis Invitational and Tom Jones Memorial

    Princeton, NJ- The Brown University men’s track & field team competed at both the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton as well as the Tom Jones Memorial Classic at the University of Florida. The squad had some great performances, which included a dominating javelin throw title for junior Craig Kinsley in Gainesville.

    Led by coach Michelle Eisenreich, who earned the title of NCAA East Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, 2009 was one of the most successful seasons the Brown throws group has ever seen. Not only did the squad dominate the Heptagonal Championships by scoring 34 points in the men’s events and 44 in the women’s events, our throwers also earned several All-Ivy honors, All-East Region honors and one All-American honor. Many of these athletes return this year and will drive the team to higher levels of success.

The top League performers in each individual event and the top team in each relay event earn selection to the All-Ivy League track & field first team. The second Ivy finishers earn second team honors.

The Princeton Tigers finished in first (181), followed by Cornell (149), Dartmouth (55), Harvard (53), Columbia (52), Brown (38), Penn (33) and Yale (28).
