Fayetteville, AR- Sophomore Craig Kinsley (Fairfield, CT) finished his 2009 track & field season at the 2009 Division 1 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday evening ranking third in the nation in the javelin. Kinsley's performance earned him USTFCCCA All-American honors as he was just one of three Brown track & field athletes to compete in the tournament.
Kinsley threw an outstanding 73.31-meters over the weekend to garner third place, finishing just behind Georgia's Chris Hill's first place throw of 81.80m, and University of South Carolina's Corey White's throw of 75.72 for second.
Earlier in the week, sophomore Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) finished her run in the NCAA Championship ranked 20th in the nation in the hammer throw. She placed 18th in the finals of the hammer throw with a 183-02 toss. In addition, senior Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) competed in the discus, ending up ranked 18th overall with a throw of 179-02.
Also earning recognition was assistant throws coach Michelle Eisenreich, who was recently named the Northeast Region Assistant Track & Field Coach of the Year. She helped guide all three Brown throwers to the NCAA Championships this past week, and had six All-Ivy selections in 2009.
