Brown Men's Tennis Players Earn All-Ivy Honors

Brown was well represented on the 2001 All-Ivy Men's Tennis Team with junior Nick Malone (Greystone, Ireland) earning first team All-Ivy honors, and freshman Jamie Cerretani (Reading, MA) being named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. In addition, the doubles team of Malone and Cerretani were named first team All-Ivy.

Malone posted a 5-2 Ivy League record at second doubles for the Bears, and was 21-12 overall at the number one and two positions. He won the A Flight of the Northeast Intercollegiate Championship Tournament, and reached the semifinals of the ITA Eastern Regionals. He was the fourth ranked player in the region at the end of the Fall.

Malone and Cerretani won the Northeast Intercollegiate A flight doubles title, reached the semifinals of the regional doubles championship, and were doubles finalists at the Harvard Invitational. The duo posted a 26-11 overall record.

Cerretani, who was the Northeast Region Rookie of the Year, played the one, two and three singles positions for the Bears, and earned a berth in the NCAA Championship with Malone, as the number one ranked doubles team in the region.

As an individual, Cerretani reached the quarterfinals of the regional championships as an unseeded player. He won the B flight in singles at the Northeast Intercollegiate Championship. Cerretani posted a 24-12 singles mark during the 2000-2001 season.
