Cerretani and Shamasdin Narrowly Fall in 2nd Round of NCAA Doubles Championship

May 28, 2004

Tulsa, OK - One of the most successful seasons in Brown tennis history came to an end on Friday when senior Jamie Cerretani (Reading, MA) and junior Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, Ont.) lost in a third set tiebreaker to third-seeded Georgia in the second round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championship at the University of Tulsa.

Cerretani and Shamasdin battled Georgia's Bo Hodge and John Islin through intense heat in Tulsa, dropping the first set 6-3, but rallying for a 7-6 (4) victory in a classic second set, fighting off five break points. Both teams held their serve in the final set in a bid to advance to the quarterfinal round, before the Bears fell, 7-6 (3) in the tiebreaker.

The doubles pair of Cerretani and Shamasdin complete the 2004 season with a sparkling 23-3 doubles mark.
