Brown and Harvard To Battle For Ivy Men's Tennis Title
April 24, 2003
For the second straight season, it comes down to Brown and Harvard for the Ivy League Men's Tennis Championship.
Last year, both teams came into the final Ivy match of the season undefeated in Ivy play. Brown earned its first Ivy League title ever with a 4-3 victory over the Crimson on the Brown campus, posting a perfect 7-0 Ivy mark.
Head coach Jay Harris' Bears are hoping that history will repeat itself once again when Brown (20-3, 6-0 Ivy) travels to Cambridge on Friday, 4/25, to face Harvard (16-8, 6-0 Ivy) for the Ivy League title. The match at the Beren Tennis Center begins at 2:00 p.m.
Also at stake is an NCAA Tournament berth, with the Ivy League Champion receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. The NCAA selection show will be held on Wednesday, 4/30, at 4:30 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPN News.
