NEW HAVEN, CT - The 33rd-ranked Brown men's tennis team (23-5, 7-0) posted a 5-2 victory over Yale in its final regular season match of the year, closing out an undefeated Ivy season, while winning the Ivy League Title outright, and earning the Ivies' automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Brown swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and posted wins in four of the six singles matches to earn the win and the Bears' second Ivy Title in four years, and the first for third-year head coach Jay Harris.
The Bears dominated doubles action, as seniors Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, ONT) and Nicholas Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) led off with an 8-3 win at #1. Singles action proved to be a bit tougher, as four of the six matches went to three sets. Brown dropped the #1 and #6 matches, but won all four matches in the middle of the order for the 5-2 win. #105 Goldberg earned a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at #2, while #124 Thomas posted a 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 win at #3.
