Bears Fall to #70 Yale, 4-3, in Final Match of the Season

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Brown men's tennis team (18-10, 4-3) dropped its final match of the 2009 season, falling to #70 Yale, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears' wins came from the four members of the Class of 2009, who were playing in their final career matches. All four of Brown's seniors won in doubles action to help give the Bears the doubles point and then Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) and Noah Gardner (Cambridge, MA) earned singles wins to account for the three team points.

In doubles action, Garland and Gardner earned an 8-6 win at #1, while Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) and Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY) posted an 8-3 win at #2 doubles for the point.

Garland's win came at #3 singles, as he earned a 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (6) win, while Gardner's victory was 6-0, 6-2 at #5. Garland finished the Ivy season with a 6-1 record, including a 2-0 mark at #3 singles.
