#43 Bears Cruise Past Princeton, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The 43rd-ranked Brown men's tennis team (17-5, 1-0) opened its 2005 Ivy season with a commanding 6-1 victory over Princeton on Friday afternoon. After falling behind 1-0, following doubles action, the Bears won all six singles matches in straight sets to earn the 6-1 win.

Brown's lone doubles win came at #1, where 17th-ranked senior Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, ONT) and junior Philip Charm (Concord, MA) posted an 8-5 victory.

In singles action, #88 Shamasdin and #90 senior Nicholas Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) led the way with wins at #1 and #2, respectively. Shamasdin won 7-5, 6-3, while Goldberg crushed his opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Eric Thomas (Cincinnati, OH) earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at #3, while junior Richard Moss (Johannesburg, South Africa) picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at #4. Charm earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at #5, while junior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) posted a 7-5, 6-3 win at #6 to close out the match.

The Bears continue action against #61 Pennsylvania at 12:00 noon.
