PROVIDENCE, RI - The #69 Brown men's tennis team (15-8, 0-1) dropped a hard-fought battle to #75 Princeton in the Bears' 2007 Ivy opener. Brown cruised through doubles action, winning all three by an 8-4 margin. However, singles was a different story, as Princeton was able to grab a 3-1 lead with wins at #4, #3, and #1. The match came down to the #2 position where sophomore Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY) and Sratha Saengsuwarn played a three-set match that prevailed for over two hours. After losing the first set, 6-4, Ratnam came back to win the second, 6-3. However, he fell in the deciding set, 6-4, as Princeton clinched the win. Seconds later, the Tigers won at #6 singles after sophomore Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) was forced to retire. Senior Zach Pasanen (North Andover, MA) earned the only singles win of the day, earning a straight-set victory at #5 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
The Bears resume action on Saturday, April 7, when they host Penn in a 12:00 noon match.
