#51 Bears Cruise Past #53 Fresno State, 6-1

FRESNO, CA - The 51st-ranked Brown men's tennis team (16-5) posted a dominating 6-1 victory of 53rd-ranked Fresno State on Saturday afternoon. It was the Bears' final match of spring break and their final match before opening the 2005 Ivy season this Friday against Princeton at 2:00 p.m. in Providence.

Brown swept the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches with sophomore Eric Thomas (Cincinnati, OH) and freshman Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) winning easily, 8-2, at #2. Senior Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, ONT) and junior Philip Charm (Concord, MA) posted an 8-5 win at #1, while senior Nicholas Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) and junior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) picked up an 8-6 win at #3.

The Bears dropped the first singles match, but won the other five to earn the win. Brown got two-set wins at the bottom three spots, while the Bears earned three-set wins at #2 and #3 singles. Junior Richard Moss (Johannesburg, South Africa) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at #4, followed by Tedaldi's 6-1, 6-1 win at #5. Kohli won at #6, 6-3, 6-4 as Brown clinched the match with those three wins.

Goldberg earned a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (2) win at #2, while Thomas posted a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (5) win at #3.

The Bears continue action against the Princeton Tigers on Friday, April 8, at 2:00 p.m.
